Oregon-Davis is switching back to virtual learning. Superintendent Bill Bennett tells WKVI News that both the elementary and junior/senior high schools will use virtual learning from next Monday through Thanksgiving.
“The big thing is staffing, and it’s not necessarily that we have a lot of staff that are out because of the coronavirus,” Bennett explains. “It’s just, you get closer to the holiday, we do have people who take off but then on top of it we do have some individuals that are quarantining, and it got to the point where we were stretched so thin on trying to cover our staffing, we had to move to virtual.”
The elementary school building will be open next Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for any O-D student, K-through-12, in need of homework help or supervision. Lunches will also be available for pickup starting Monday, according to a notice sent out to parents.
The notice says Oregon-Davis has had 10 student cases and seven staff cases of COVID-19 since the start of the school year. More than 100 individuals have had to quarantine after being identified as a close contact at school, while many more have had to quarantine because they were a close contact with someone outside of school.
