The Starke County Council members will be making decisions tonight in what areas to cut the 2021 budget. Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich stated in last month’s meeting that over $340,000 needs to be cut from next year’s budget.
Starke County EMS Director Travis Clary will be giving his report to both the Starke County Council and Starke County Commissioners tonight. The county officials asked that Clary provide specific information on the transfer unit and revenues.
The position of the Emergency Management Director will be discussed and at what capacity the position should be. At their meeting earlier this month, the commissioners thought that the position should be part-time, but the ultimate decision will be made between both governing bodies tonight.
Starke County Health Department officials will be asking for a part-time health nurse and pay rate and the council members will consider several transfer requests. Sheriff Bill Dulin will present a grant request during the joint session.
The Starke County Council and Starke County Commissioners will meet in joint session tonight beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The commissioners will meet following the joint session where they will hear health insurance proposals from 1st Source Insurance and Eric Dreyfus from Assured Partners.
A contract with Purdue Extension will also be discussed.
Both meetings will be held in the ground floor meeting room in the Starke County Annex No. 1 building at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
