West Central teachers and support staff will be getting a pay raise. The school board approved the 2020-2021 Master Teacher Contract last week, according to Superintendent Dan Zylstra.
“It’ll be, at a minimum, $700 per teacher, and then a $300 stipend on top of that,” Zylstra says. “And then, some of the teachers will be receiving more, based on where they fall in that salary schedule.”
The contract calls for a basic salary range of $35,500 to $62,500.
“It’s a good deal for teachers in a year where we lost 60 students,” Zylstra adds, “and it’s especially a good contract for our teachers that are at the beginning and the middle of their careers because there’s some money in there to catch them up.”
Zylstra says the school board also approved pay raises for non-certified staff. He adds that all staff members have worked very hard over the past 10 months, to make the students’ education possible.
