Indiana has set another record for new COVID-19 cases. The Indiana Department of Health reported another 8,527 cases Thursday, the state’s largest single-day increase since the pandemic began.
On top of that, a backlog of 443 historical cases and 2,153 tests was added into the state’s count, although it doesn’t appear that they were listed as new cases. That brings the state’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 359,430.
Starke County also broke its own record, with 35 new cases reported Thursday, bringing the county’s total up to 1,043. Marshall County added 93 cases for a total of 3,431, while Pulaski County had 17 new cases for a total of 497.
Marshall County also reported its 50th COVID-19 death, one of 60 new deaths reported statewide. A total of 5,748 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died since the pandemic began.
