Knox City Council Approves Transfers to Help Prepare for CARES Act Spending

The City of Knox is upgrading its technology, thanks to its share of federal CARES Act funding. Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last month that the city was starting to use its $114,000.

“We are in the process of purchasing some iPads for all the trucks, a couple new printers, one for the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office because that one’s about worn out, and then one for my office,” Estok explained.

To help with the process, council members agreed to transfer almost $28,000 from five different line items into the board of works’ Building budget. Estok said that will allow the city to wait until next year to appropriate the CARES Act money itself.

Transfers were also made to balance out line items in the fire and park departments’ budgets, as 2020 comes to a close.
