More COVID-19 Deaths Reported in Starke, Marshall Counties

Another COVID-19 death has been added to both Starke and Marshall counties’ counts. A Marshall County resident died on Christmas Eve, according to Friday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. That brings the county’s total confirmed death count up to 69. Meanwhile, Starke County’s 39th COVID-19 death occurred on Wednesday.

Marshall County reported another 35 positive cases, bringing the total to 4,357. More than 20,000 Marshall County residents have gotten a combined 60,000 COVID-19 tests since the pandemic began. Starke County has now surpassed 1,500 cases, with 10 cases added to the count Friday. Pulaski County reported another nine cases, for a total of 812.

The state as a whole reported an additional 5,563 positive cases and 40 confirmed deaths Friday. The state’s dashboard shows that 2,918 Hoosiers spent Christmas Eve in the hospital due to COVID-19, the state’s lowest number of hospitalized patients since November 15.

Free COVID-19 testing continues Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox.
