While a few of the Pulaski Memorial Hospital healthcare workers are getting their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine this week, officials from the Pulaski County Health Department are holding planning sessions for public distribution of the vaccine.
Several county leaders assembled on Tuesday to go over procedures regarding registration, administration, and observation, and doing it all during a public health emergency. The Knights of Columbus facility in Winamac is anticipated to be a vaccination distribution site.
Pulaski Memorial Hospital officials were joined in collaboration efforts by representatives from Pulaski County Emergency Management Agency, Pulaski County EMS, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Pulaski County Public Library, Winamac Police Department, West Central School Superintendent Dan Zylstra, Pulaski County Commissioner Maurice Loehmer, Pulaski County Board of Health, Knights of Columbus leaders, and a number of retired nurses who will help administer the vaccine.
Health officials say Dr. Daniel Anderson and nine other Pulaski Memorial Hospital associates received the first dose of vaccine on Monday to “trial their administration process”. The remaining staff will be vaccinated over the coming weeks.
Long-term care facilities in Pulaski County will receive vaccines this week through a state partnership with CVS and Walgreens.
