Total of 30 COVID-19 Cases Reported at N.J.-S.P. Schools Since Start of School Year

North Judson-San Pierre School Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin is hopeful that in-person learning will be able to resume for all grade levels on January 5. The junior/senior high school is using virtual learning for the last week of the semester.

Zupin told the school board Tuesday that the number of junior/senior high students in class had taken a hit, due to COVID-19 cases, other illnesses, and families choosing to end the semester virtually. “We’re doing the best we can,” Zupin said. “And we did suspend athletics for a week. Two of the four teams were in directed quarantine, so we took a time-out. Hopefully, that’ll help.”

Zupin said the junior/senior high school has had 11 student cases and eight cases since the start of the school year, while the elementary school has had four student cases and seven staff cases.

She added that the need for hand sanitizer and cleaning spray has increased the school corporation’s expenses but not significantly. So far, much of that has been able to be covered with grant funding.
