Boswell Narrowly Retained As Pulaski County Council President

The Pulaski County Council narrowly decided to keep the same president for another year. Ken Boswell was reelected to the position last week by a vote of four-to-three, over Rudy DeSabatine. DeSabatine was then nominated for another year as vice-president, but was defeated by new council member Adam Loehmer, also by a vote of four-to-three.

When it came to board and commission appointments, Council Member Kathi Thompson offered to replace former council member Jay Sullivan on the Community Development Commission. Council Member Brian Young volunteered for the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission, while Council Member Mike Tiede agreed to continue serving on the Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District Board and the Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission.

Boswell also suggested having council members serve as liaisons for each county department, to help speed the process of responding to any challenges that may arise. Council members also appointed Nancy Allman to the Pulaski County Public Library Board, replacing Pat Bawcum.

The county council will continue to hold its regular meetings on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. ET. Joint sessions with the county commissioners take place the second Monday of every other month at 6:00 p.m., starting in February.
