Knox School Board to Decide on Pay Raise for Substitute Teachers Tonight

The Knox School Board will decide on a pay raise for substitute teachers tonight.

Under the proposal, those with a substitute teaching certificate would get $70 per day. Those with a valid teaching license or associates degree would get $80 per day, while retired public school teachers would earn $90 per day.

Newly-elected board members Autumn Ferch and Mike Lord will take the oath of office, along with reelected board members Kirk Bennett and Wendy McIntire. The corporation treasurer, board attorney, and a number of other representatives and officials will be up for reappointment. Board members will also consider adjustments to the 2021-2022 school calendar and get an update on CARES Act funds.

Tonight’s Knox School Board meeting starts at 6:30 in the Knox Schools Administrative Office. Following the regular meeting, board members will then convene as the board of finance, which will reorganize and get an update on the school corporation’s investments.
