Dozens of new COVID-19 cases were reported in the local area in Sunday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. Another 42 Marshall County residents have tested positive, bringing the total to 4,789 since the pandemic began. Starke County had 13 new cases for a total of 1,665, while Pulaski County had nine new cases for a total of 921.
Marshall County continues to see a higher seven-day all-test positivity rate than any of its neighbors at 23.2 percent, according to the Indiana Department of Health’s calculations. Starke County’s rate is now 14.7 percent, while Pulaski County’s is 13.
The state as a whole reported more than 5,100 new cases Sunday, with a total approaching 564,000. Another 18 Hoosiers have died, bringing the total to almost 9,000 when both confirmed and probable deaths are included. Almost 2,600 COVID-19 patients were in the hospital in Indiana, as of Saturday.
