Another 22 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Marshall County. That brings the total number of cases there to 4,870 since the pandemic began, according to Thursday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. The number of new cases in Starke and Pulaski counties remains in the single digits, with seven in Starke County and five in Pulaski County.
Marshall County’s seven-day positivity rate is down to 10.6 percent for all tests, while Starke County’s is up to 19 percent. Pulaski County’s is at 14 percent. The number of tests being administered is still lower than it was before Christmas.
The state as a whole reported more than 4,400 new cases Thursday, pushing the total over 578,000. The number of Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19 is down to 2,440, the lowest level in over a month. Another 40 Indiana residents have died, bringing the total to 8,830 or more than 9,200 when probable deaths are included.
Meanwhile, local residents continue to get vaccinated. In Marshall County, 1,455 residents have gotten their first dose, along with 366 in Pulaski County and 340 in Starke County. Two hundred twenty-eight Marshall County residents are now fully vaccinated, along with 76 in Pulaski County and 56 in Starke County.
