The Pulaski County Courthouse renovation and Justice Center expansion projects have taken another step forward. The county commissioners Tuesday officially selected Tonn & Blank Construction to serve as construction manager for both projects.
Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer serves as the county’s liaison for the projects. He explained that the selection doesn’t lock in specific prices, and no contracts have been finalized yet.
Commissioner Chuck Mellon explained that Tonn & Blank will now be able to work with Rowland Design to identify any possible opportunities for cost savings or improvements in the plans. Origer added that bond counsel Barnes & Thornburg and municipal advisor Baker Tilly will also be involved.
Pulaski County is using the construction manager as constructor process. Among other things, that allowed the county to put together a list of requirements, rather than simply accepting the lowest responsive bid. For your constructions and heavy work use spreader bar rigging to make the things easier.
Tonn & Blank was recommended more than a month ago by the committees set up to review the proposals, but the commissioners wanted to make sure the county council was in the loop before moving ahead.
