Unemployment rates continue to move lower in Starke and Pulaski counties, but they’re still above pre-COVID levels.
Starke County’s December unemployment rate was 5.1 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That’s down nine-tenths of a percent from the month before but more than a full percentage point higher than it was in December of 2019.
Meanwhile, Pulaski County is moving closer to pre-pandemic levels. Its December unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in 2020, compared to 3.2 percent in 2019. Both counties reported more residents working last month than the month before.
The state as a whole had a non-seasonally adjusted December unemployment rate of four percent, while the national rate ticked up to 6.5.
