The names of those who died in a New Year’s Day accident in Starke County have been released.
Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin said 43-year-old Juan Rodrigo Damasoalvarado from Guatemala and 21-year-old Bryan David Perez Large from Ecuador died in the accident on U.S. 30 near 850 E. in Starke County.
It took the Starke County Coroner several days to reach next-of-kin to complete family notification.
One other occupant in the vehicle was injured.
Police say the accident was caused by an ice storm that occurred in the area that morning.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, along with Starke County EMS, Hamlet Fire Department, and the Starke County Coroner.
