The West Central School Corporation is giving its support staff a raise. Superintendent Dan Zylstra says the school board approved a pay increase for non-certified employees Thursday.
“We raised the base pay up to $10.75, and then we made adjustments from there for everybody else,” he explains. “So not everybody got a raise to that extent, but we kind of feathered it up.”
The goal is to keep West Central’s wages competitive, especially for some of its entry-level jobs. Zylstra says the school board also discussed the possibility of continuing to provide COVID sick days through the end of March, as other schools are doing.
