A 65-year-old Fish Lake man was arrested, after he allegedly stabbed and battered his 32-year-old roommate. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 300 block of Cherry Street at around 9:20 Sunday night.
Officers say the younger roommate was bleeding and had several cuts and abrasions, when a conservation officer made contact with him outside the home. He was taken to the hospital.
But police say the other roommate, Michael R. Brewer, 65, stayed inside and refused to open the door. Police say they continued to try to make contact with him, and other deputies were called in to help. Officers say Brewer did not leave the home until they “introduced chemical agents into the interior.”
Brewer now faces Level 5 felony charges of battery with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury.
