Northwest Health Hospitals Ease Visitor Restrictions

Northwest Health – Starke is easing its visitor restrictions, as the rate of new COVID-19 cases continues to decrease. Starting Wednesday, February 3, patients will be allowed one visitor age 18 and older at a time. Visiting hours are 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.

All visitors will be screened, and anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms won’t be allowed to enter unless they’re seeking medical care. Visitors are required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and sanitize their hands when entering the hospital, entering or exiting patient rooms, and after coughing or sneezing.

Certain departments have their own guidelines. Labor & Delivery will allow two adult visitors per patient at a time with no visiting hour restrictions. Two visitors may also be arranged for end-of-life situations.

One person may accompany each patient to the emergency department, outpatient procedures, radiology, urgent care, and Northwest Medical Group locations. Two parents or guardians will be allowed for most pediatric patients.

No visitors will be permitted for COVID-19 patients or those awaiting test results. The same restrictions are also in place for Northwest Health’s hospitals in LaPorte and Valparaiso.
