Pulaski County Surpasses 1,000 COVID-19 Cases

Pulaski County has surpassed 1,000 COVID-19 cases. The county commissioners got an update Monday from Incident Management Team member Nathan Origer.

“We don’t have very good data recorded by the state regarding how many have recovered or at least have essentially recovered, but total at this point is just over 1,000, with 38 deaths associated with the virus in Pulaski County,” Origer told the commissioners.

But the number of new cases and the positivity rate continue to improve, and Origer said the vaccination clinics at the Winamac Knights of Columbus have been going very well. “Thus far, we can say that not a single vaccine has been wasted due to scheduling snafus or anything, and they are continuing to be packed and to have their schedules booking up,” he said. “So they’ve been very effective and efficient in delivering the vaccine.”

Still, Origer said health officials encourage residents to continue to take the necessary precautions.
