Staff Member Killed in Stabbing at Indiana State Prison

A stabbing at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City has left one staff member dead and another injured. The Indiana Department of Correction announced the incident in a social media post Sunday evening.

Indiana State Police said in a press release that an inmate apparently attacked two correction officers in a common area around 2:40 p.m. Sunday. Both were taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The other remains in serious condition.

Police say 38-year-old inmate Tymetri Campbell faces several preliminary charges, including murder.
