An Asset Management presentation will be given by members of the Starke County Highway Department to the Starke County Council members during their meeting tonight.
The council members will also discuss additional appropriation requests from the Starke County Prosecutor, and from Sheriff Bill Dulin for the Sheriff’s Retirement Fund.
An encumbrance request will also be considered along with action to clean-up old grant funds. Auditor Rachel Oesterreich will also have business to bring to the council’s attention.
The Starke County Council members will meet at 5:30 p.m. CT tonight followed by a meeting of the Starke County Commissioners at 6 p.m. CT.
The commissioners will hold a public hearing concerning the COVID-19 response program grant application. The county is seeking a $250,000 grant to assist small businesses in the unincorporated areas in the county, as well as the Town of Hamlet. It would also allow funding for $100 food boxes made available for pick-up to those impacted with COVID-19, or it could be used to sponsor more food distribution days with the Northern Indiana Food Bank.
The commissioners will look at the job description and job title change for the Planning Commission, and the Starke County Economic Development Foundation contract will be considered for final approval.
Starke County Highway Superintendent will present a discussion on Bridges No. 7 and No. 137, and the commissioners will determine whether or not to keep the government buildings closed to the public.
Both meetings will be offered on the Zoom virtual platform. For more information, contact the Auditor’s Office at 574-772-9101.
