Starke County Government Buildings to Stay Closed to Public

The Starke County Commissioners decided to keep the Starke County Courthouse, and the Annex No. 1 and Annex No. 2 buildings closed to the public for another two weeks.

Commission President Charlie Chesak noted that it is in the best interest of the commissioners to keep county residents and employees as safe as possible.  They noted that the county’s positivity rate is going in the right direction, but they want to be sure that they are keeping safety in mind when they ultimately make the decision to open the county buildings to the public.

Residents needing to conduct business inside the Starke County Courthouse or Annex buildings will have to call ahead and get an appointment.

Residents may access Starke County’s government website at www.co.starke.in.us to obtain information, email a certain individual, or call an office to conduct official business.

The commissioners will reassess the situation during their next meeting on February 15.

The commissioners also urge residents to wear masks while in public spaces, maintain a social distance, and wash hands with soap and water frequently.
