The Winamac Town Council will take comments tonight on the town’s application for COVID-19 relief for local businesses. The town plans to apply for $150,000 through Indiana’s COVID-19 Response Program.
Members of the public will also have a chance to weigh in on $190,000 in additional appropriations. Town officials are asking for the council’s permission to spend another $150,000 in Economic Development Income Tax funds and $40,000 of the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund’s street paving money. That includes funding for the demolition of an abandoned grain elevator near the corner of Logan and Jefferson streets.
Following the public hearing, the town council is expected to open cemetery mowing bids and consider fire protection contracts with Monroe, Tippecanoe, Franklin, Harrison and Jefferson townships.
Tonight’s Winamac Town Council meeting starts at 6:00 EST in the Winamac Municipal Utilities Complex.
