The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area beginning Thursday afternoon (February 4) to Friday morning (February 5) at 10 a.m. ET.
A mix of precipitation could lead to a burst of snow, creating up to three inches of snow possible. Winds gusting up to 40 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow on roads. Additionally, drivers should watch for a flash freeze which will add to hazardous road conditions.
The Friday morning commute may be extremely hazardous. Marshall County has implemented an “advisory” level travel advisory ahead of this storm.
Officials also warn of cold temperatures and sub-zero wind chills this weekend and into next week. Extremely cold temperatures, such as those that are in the forecast, are dangerous to people, animals, and property. If you must be outside during extremely cold temperatures, dress appropriately for the conditions. Cover as much skin as possible to minimize exposure, and take frequent breaks indoors.
