The Culver Town Council members reviewed an agreement Tuesday night with IDEM for a reimbursable grant to install an electric car charging station in Culver.
The Indiana Volkswagen Diesel Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund Committee recently awarded funding for 56 Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations across the state, including 11 sites in the MACOG region in northern Indiana. Culver and Plymouth were among those recipients.
The agreement allows the Town of Culver to submit reimbursable costs up to $9,000 for the installation of a charging station with two available parking spots for cars in the town’s parking lot on South Main Street, south of the Culver Cottage Bed and Breakfast.
The town has until December 31, 2022 to complete the project.
Several progress and usage data reports will need to be submitted to IDEM.
A motion was made to accept the agreement and allow Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe to sign the agreement. The motion was approved by a vote of 4-1 with Councilman Bill Cleavenger opposed.
