Knox to Explore Additional Options to Encourage Housing Development

The City of Knox may have to rethink its approach when it comes to attracting housing. Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last week that it doesn’t look like tax credits would be an option.

“After talking to IHCDA, they’re very competitive, the tax credits are, and small communities don’t score well,” Estok explained. “In fact, North Liberty, they were up this year, and they didn’t get it, either. And they were going through a housing project just like the one that we were looking at.”

But he said the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority has other programs available, and more discussions are expected in the future.

During his mayor’s report, Estok also announced that spring leaf pickup is planned for the first week of April and the first week of May.
