La Porte County Sheriff’s Deputies Respond to Report of Downed Plane

Officers from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a downed plane early Monday afternoon in the area of U.S. 421 and County Road 1100 South in Rural Clinton Township.

Upon arrival shortly after 12:45 p.m. CT, police say they found a 1965 Piper Twin Comanche plane in a field approximately 300 yards east of U.S. 421. 

Police say the pilot and a passenger were not injured in the incident.  The pilot told police the aircraft’s engines failed and an emergency landing was made, according to the report. 

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will continue the investigation.
