Lane closures will affect the flow of traffic on U.S. 30 over the Slocum Ditch near Wanatah beginning Monday, April 5.
Indiana Department of Transportation officials say U.S. 30 will be reduced to one lane in each direction in order to complete a bridge deck overlay project at that location. Crews will install a protective treatment to the bridge deck to extend its life. The thin overlay consists of an epoxy layer covered by a layer of aggregate, then another layer of epoxy followed by another layer of aggregate. It is a less expensive treatment and lasts for decades.
The area will be under construction through mid-June. Drivers should allow extra time to get to a destination if traveling that route and use extra caution when traveling around construction zones.
