The Pulaski County Council will consider action tonight to correct a couple of oversights in the 2021 budget. During the budget process, council members decided to move funding for local fire departments out of the county’s General Fund and into the public safety income tax fund. Auditor Laura Wheeler told the council last month that while she took the $31,500 out of County General, she forgot to add it to public safety.
She also noted that funding for the county’s 911 center needs to be split into two separate budgets, since revenues from the state’s phone fees need to be kept separate from revenues from a local income tax designated for that purpose. Specifically, the county’s Statewide 911 budget needs to be reduced by more than $510,000, while the Public Safety Access Point Local Income Tax fund needs to be increased by the same amount.
In other business tonight, Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer will give updates on the courthouse and justice center projects. EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo will discuss wages, and Sheriff Jeff Richwine will request approval for a budget transfer. The Cumulative Capital Development Fund will also be up for discussion.
Tonight’s Pulaski County Council meeting starts at 7:00 EST in the Pulaski County Highway Garage. It will be streamed live on the Pulaski County, Indiana, Government Facebook page.
