Beginning today, the Starke County Commissioners will begin meeting in the morning during their second meeting of the month.
During this morning’s meeting, they will make an appointment to the Alcoholic Beverage Board and to the U.S. 30 committee.
Discussion surrounding the use of the county cars will continue. Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich brought up the issue during the last meeting and asked the commissioners to think about encouraging county employees to use the county’s two available vehicles for use on county business. The cars can be signed out for trips to conferences or other county-related needs and then signed back in when business is complete. The commissioners were going to review more paperwork from the insurance carrier prior to today’s discussion.
The commissioners are also anticipated to name an interim superintendent at the Starke County Highway Department. Rik Ritzler left the position on Friday, March 12 after giving the commissioners notice during their meeting March 1.
The Starke County Commissioners will meet at 9:30 a.m. CT today in the ground floor meeting room in the Starke County Annex No. 1 building at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
Later today, the Starke County Council members will meet in the same space at 5:30 p.m. CT where they are anticipated to consider a request from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation for $15,000 for the Hamlet Fire Well.
