Starke County Sheriff’s Department K9 Tayson will be sporting a new bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

A fundraiser was hosted by The Thin Blue Line USA to purchase Tayson’s vest that displays embroidery that reads, “Honoring those who served and sacrificed”.

The vest is made in the USA, custom made to fit K9 Tayson, and it is National Institute of Justice certified.

Since its formation in 2009, Vested Interested in K9s, Inc. has provided over 4,200 vests to K9s in all 50 states who are actively employed and certified with law enforcement or other related agencies.  Private and corporation donations have provided $6.9 million in funds to ensure vests are available to dogs that battle crime in the field.
