West Central School Corporation Researching Energy-Saving Projects

The West Central School Corporation is looking into some possible energy-saving upgrades. Superintendent Dan Zylstra says Performance Services recently did an audit of the schools’ HVAC systems and energy usage.

“That’s a long-term overview of what our systems can do,” Zylstra explains, “and so right now, we’re taking it for information and then we’re working on a more comprehensive capital projects plan with that.”

During a recent school board work session, Zylstra says Director of Maintenance David Allen and Director of Technology Kris Aschbrenner reviewed some of the upgrades made over the past year and discussed upcoming needs, like new carpeting, paint, and cabling for higher internet speeds.

The West Central School Board is scheduled to get an HVAC update from Precision Control Systems during a work session Thursday. It starts at 7:00 p.m. EST in the high school library, followed by the school board’s regular meeting at 7:30.
