A Winamac High School teacher is stepping down, after a 35-year teaching career. Kevin Zupin’s retirement was accepted by the Eastern Pulaski School Board last week, according to Superintendent Dara Chezem.
Zupin spearheaded last spring’s Social Justice Day, which Chezem calls one of the most powerful events she’s experienced in her time at Eastern Pulaski. “He had all of our students at the high school walk down to watch the film ‘Just Mercy,’ and they came back and participated in breakout sessions in which they experienced social injustice and discussed and applied what they’d learned during the film, and discussed how they could help struggling individuals here in our own community,” Chezem explains.
Zupin’s retirement officially takes effect May 28.
