The Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation is easing one of its remaining COVID-19 restrictions.
Back in November, the school district stopped renting its facilities to outside organizations, as Superintendent Dara Chezem says contact tracing requirements were putting a strain on administrators. But now that Pulaski County’s numbers have improved, Chezem says the school board agreed Monday to once again let outside groups use the facilities. They’ll still have to work with the Pulaski County Health Department and follow the guidelines in place for K-through-12 schools until the end of the school year.
Meanwhile, Eastern Pulaski teachers with remaining COVID leave now have until the end of May to use it. By that time, Chezem notes that anyone who wants the vaccine should have been able to get fully vaccinated. That, in turn, means they wouldn’t have to quarantine after coming into contact with someone who tests positive but doesn’t have symptoms. Chezem says the extension was also approved by the school board on Monday.
