The largest number of graduates passed Moral Recognition Therapy programs at the Starke County Sheriff’s Office this week.
Facilitator Jennifer Lambert said those who face substance abuse took 16-week classes where they learned how to manage finances, family values, self-acknowledgement, job readiness, relapse therapy, and many other life skills to help them be productive members of society when they are released from jail.
Jail Warden Phill Cherry noted that the programs are facilitated solely by Starke County Sheriff’s Office and no longer from Porter-Starke Services. There were 18 men and women who successfully completed the programs.
Additionally, Fostering a Recovery Mentality (F.A.R.M.) participants will hold a Mother’s Day sale at the Starke County Sheriff’s Office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT where they will have a variety of hand-crafted items available. Picnic tables, planters, and much more will be in stock for shoppers. Cherry noted that engraving is available for orders.
Money from the sale of these items helps sustain the F.A.R.M. program to assist with costs associated with related substance abuse treatment classes.
