The newest member of the North Judson Police Department was introduced to the town council Monday. K-9 Tiko has completed his six-week training course with Officer Keaton Leszek, according to Town Marshal Kelly Fisher.
“He will be on our opposite night shift of our current K-9 Jimy and Rico [Simpson],” Fisher told council members. “He seems to be the same demeanor as Jimy, so he’s really come along, and I think he’ll do real well for the department.”
That means North Judson Police will have a K-9 on duty every night. The $15,000 cost of the new dog was covered by fundraising and donations.
Fisher also reported that the department was able to get a Dodge Durango for just over $33,000 from Thomas Dodge. The town council agreed to have Signal 10 install the necessary equipment for just over $14,000. Fisher said the cage and other K-9-related equipment will be taken out of the K-9 Fund.
