A man wanted on suspicion of meth dealing and planting an explosive device was reportedly taken into custody, following a standoff with police in Pulaski County Friday. Pulaski County sheriff’s deputies say they were called to assist in the arrest of Darren Amick, who allegedly had active warrants out of White County.
Officers from Pulaski County, Winamac, White County, Porter County, Jasper County, the FBI, and the Indiana State Police SWAT team reportedly executed a search warrant in the 2900 block of North 175 East. Police say Amick refused to leave the trailer for several hours, and the State Police SWAT team deployed chemical irritants and canine units. Officers say he continued to forcibly resist, but was eventually taken into custody.
Amick was reportedly taken to the hospital “for exposure to chemical irritants and injuries received while fighting the law enforcement animal.” He was then taken to White County for his felony warrants.
The Pulaski County Emergency Management Agency and Winamac Fire Department also responded.
