The building that formerly housed the Evil Czech business at 530 S. Ohio Street in Culver will soon be demolished.
The Culver Town Council members approved the purchase of that property in 2020 with the hopes of turning the building into something useful for the town, but Councilman Rich West commented during last week’s meeting that a preliminary architectural study done on the building found renovation costs to be much more than the town was willing to spend.
As a result, a motion was made and unanimously approved to demolish the building at a cost not to exceed $10,000. The project is expected to be done in-house by the Utility Department. The contents inside will be inspected and recycled, or deemed as surplus in order to be given to departments to use.
In the interim, a representative from Peerless Midwest was going to drill in that area for the possibility of constructing a new well at that location following the demolition process. More information will be brought before the council on that action in a future setting.
