The Eastern Pulaski School Board recognized Winamac High School’s top graduates during this month’s regular meeting. Valedictorian Reece Parks told board members he plans to attend Butler University for computer science.
Salutatorian Aubrey Gearhart will attend Indiana Wesleyan University. She said she isn’t totally sure what she’ll study, but she will be playing softball.
Superintendent Dara Chezem said, “Reece and Aubrey, I’d like to congratulate you on your academic success over your last four years and, actually, your whole educational career. I welcome you here. I appreciate you coming. I can’t wait to listen to your speeches at graduation.”
In other business, the school board formally accepted the retirements of two long-time staff members. “Diana Sanson has been a special education instructional assistant for 31 years,” Chezem told the board. “Before being hired by Eastern Pulaski, she worked for [the Logansport Area Joint Special Services Cooperative], but she has been here at Eastern Pulaski for those years, as well as Sherry Combs, who started as a custodian then later moved into food service. Sherry has been employed by Eastern Pulaski for 13 years.”
Meanwhile, Jessica Rausch was hired as a middle school science teacher, and Melvin Wireman was hired to teach middle school math.
