A Hamlet man was arrested earlier this month after field officers from Starke County Court Services/Community Corrections Division reportedly found him in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Officers say William Miller was serving a sentence on home detention for a Level 6 Felony charge of possession of a syringe. During a home compliance check at Miller’s residence on McCormick Street in Hamlet on May 17, field officers allegedly found 12 hypodermic syringes and a clear plastic bag with a substance inside that field-tested positive for heroin, according to the report.
Miller was arrested and faces preliminary charges of a home detention violation, and Level 6 Felony charges of possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe.
Starke County Court Services was assisted at the scene by the Hamlet Police Department and the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
