Knox High School seniors who are supposed to be in COVID-19 quarantine could still be allowed to attend graduation. Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart told the school board last week that he’s trying to come up with ways to make sure students don’t have to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime event.
“My idea would be to still be able to bring those kids in but socially distance them way off in the football field and still let them get their plaque from a distance,” Reichhart said. “With our new stadium scoreboard, we can videotape and put their picture, still, up there, even if they’re a distance away.”
He said that some students already had to miss prom, after two student-athletes tested positive, sending 56 students into quarantine. “We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we don’t have an outbreak from the students going to the prom, and so far, so good,” he said.
Reichhart expressed his appreciation to teachers and support staff for “getting over the fear factor” for their personal safety and health during a very trying year.
