Despite following protocols from Quality Correctional Care, the Starke County Health Department and the Indiana Department of Health, a portion of the inmate population in the Starke County Justice Center has tested positive for COVID-19.
Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin stated in a press release that officials have taken mandatory daily temperature checks of the employees, along with outside vendors and inmates to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He noted that the mask mandate has also been followed. Over the last 10 days, testing has occurred and 23 percent of the jail population has tested positive. However, there have been no positive tests in the last three days. Dulin said individuals who are positive have been quarantined and disinfection measures have taken place. He indicated that officials have been able to contain the virus within the facility.
