Work on Francesville’s new public art installation gets underway today. A mural is being painted on the side of the Neihouser Building 118 West Montgomery Street, according to the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. Brooklyn-based muralist Jenna Morello will work on the mural over the next week.

It’s the fourth of 10 murals being installed as part of the WHIN Walls program, funded by the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network and facilitated by the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. The Francesville mural is a partnership with the town and its Main Street organization, the Uptown Project.

Uptown Project board member Darlene Mellon said in a statement that the project has helped renew the town’s “sense of hope, optimism, and confidence,” noting that it will enhance the downtown but also help the economy by boosting foot traffic.

A public dedication ceremony is planned for Wednesday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
