The Town of Hamlet is getting closer to its housing development goal. Zoning Board President Dave Kesvormas says developer Eric Keen has expressed interest in building two more houses on Jefferson Street, in addition to the two the town has already approved.
“That’s exciting. That’s wonderful. That’s a great thing,” Kesvormas said during Wednesday’s zoning board meeting. “So that means how many houses total? . . . So it would be about 12 houses. So we’re not far from 22 by ’22, if we consider the square footage of Dollar General and a couple other things that are going on.”
The only issue is that the lots are technically too narrow under the town’s zoning rules, which means the zoning board would either have to grant variances or check if other arrangements were made when the lots were created.
