Hamlet to Get LED Streetlights

The Town of Hamlet will soon be getting LED streetlights. Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts told the town council Wednesday that NIPSCO plans to replace all of its lights in town, starting next year. “Hopefully, our bill will go down after this happens on the streetlights,” she said, “because we have 105 to be replaced.”

The town council chose to go with the standard, brighter option, as opposed to the dimmer lights meant to provide a better view of the night sky. Council President Dave Kesvormas said Hamlet may want to ask NIPSCO to remove some of its streetlights from Starke Street, as the town installs its own decorative lights there.
