An extension of the Erie Trail could soon secure a path all the way to LaCrosse, but more discussions are needed with the new owner of the Chesapeake and Indiana Railroad.
North Judson Town Attorney Justin Schramm told the town council last week that MB Rail’s original purchase agreement called for an easement between North Judson and English Lake. But the Prairie Trails Club and others proposed extending that to LaCrosse during the negotiation phase.
Schramm said they thought MB Rail was fine with that since it didn’t raise any objections, but the company apparently didn’t realize the extension had been requested. However, Schramm was confident the parties could work through the issue.
