Oregon-Davis School Board Approves High School Course Description Guide

An updated course description guide for Oregon-Davis Junior/Senior High School was recently approved by the school board. Superintendent Bill Bennett said school officials are planning some new options for junior high students. “I’m real excited to hear that we’re going to offer some more honors classes at our junior high level and give them those experiences,” he said.

But one of the most significant changes is the use of applied credits for special education students with an individualized education plan. Principal B.J. Awald explained that the state is trying to maintain standards for those students, even with a modified curriculum. School officials noted that even if students have an IEP, it still counts against the school’s graduation rate if they’re unable to meet the standards of a Core 40 diploma.
