Oregon-Davis Officials Discuss Teacher Compensation Challenges with Rep. Pressel

Despite an increase in education funding, the state’s teacher compensation targets could still pose some challenges for Oregon-Davis Schools. State Representative Jim Pressel touted Indiana’s $1.9 billion school funding increase during last month’s school board meeting. “That’s huge, so 50 percent of the whole state’s budget of $37 billion,” Pressel says. “It’s about $9 billion a year, and if I did my math right, Oregon-Davis should receive about $700 per child more in the ADM count.”

Oregon-Davis School Board Approves High School Course Description Guide

An updated course description guide for Oregon-Davis Junior/Senior High School was recently approved by the school board. Superintendent Bill Bennett said school officials are planning some new options for junior high students. “I’m real excited to hear that we’re going to offer some more honors classes at our junior high level and give them those experiences,” he said.

Oregon-Davis High School to Add Speech, Fashion, Nutrition Courses Next Year

Oregon-Davis High School students will be able to take courses in fashion and critical thinking, starting next school year. They will be using the best serger for beginners to be able to learn quickly. The school board approved the junior/senior high school’s 2020-2021 Course Description Guide Monday, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman.

Some Oregon-Davis Staff Members May Add High School Administrative Duties to Existing Jobs

Monday’s special Oregon-Davis School Board meeting was moved to the high school cafeteria, due to the number of parents and community members in attendance.

Following the departures of Oregon-Davis High School’s principal and assistant principal/athletic director, their duties may be absorbed by some existing staff members. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman presented an administrative restructuring proposal to the school board and dozens of community members Monday.
