United Way Network Services to Expand to Starke County

The Starke County Community Foundation and United Way of Porter County are partnering to expand United Way services to Starke County.

According to Starke County Community Foundation Director of Development Jacque Ryan, the Starke United Funds will no longer be eligible for Indiana United Ways membership at the end of the year.  The partnership will allow the United Way of Porter County to administer the Starke United fund so the county can continue to benefit from United Way services.

The fund will continue as part of United Way of Porter County’s grant services.  The local grant committee in Starke County will ensure that local needs are a top priority.

Regionally, United Way of Porter County provides volunteer, education and disaster relief services to nonprofits and residents in Lake, LaPorte, Porter, Marshall and Starke Counties. These programs are Northwest Indiana Volunteer Center, AmeriCorps, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, United Way Reading Buddies and Community Organizations Active in Disaster Coalition.

A meet and greet event with media is set for today  (Thursday, June 10) to release more information about the venture.
