Officials with the Community Foundation of Pulaski County (CFPC) recently purchased property at 221 N. Monticello Street in Winamac in order to establish their own office in downtown Winamac.
The board members of the organization believe the 100-year-old home presents long-term character qualities that represent the Community Foundation itself.
CFPC President Vicki Overmyer stated in a press release that the building is near the heart of downtown Winamac and “within easy access to key sites and businesses.” Treasurer Gregg Malott said that the decision “aligns with the organization’s emphasis on permanency and investing in the community.”
The property was purchased with an operating reserve consisting of a combination of dollars received from Lilly Endowment in the foundation’s early years and interest. Malott emphasized the reserve was set aside years ago and does not include donor contributions.
The home is expected to be renovated soon with the intent to begin operations there in 2022. The foundation’s first office was established in 2001 on Main Street in Winamac, and moved to its current location on Pearl Street in 2006.
